MAKARIOS

In the Greek, someone who is a privileged and happy recipient of divine favor.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3

Are you one of the blessed makarios? In Revelation 3:17 the Lord Jesus Christ admonished the church at Laodicea. A church who believed they were rich with increased goods, who believed they had need of nothing. Jesus called them wretched, miserable, poor, naked, and blind to their situation. He wanted to “spit them out of His mouth” for being neither hot, nor cold. Lukewarm.

Lukewarm to what?

To Him!

Jesus then praised the church at Philadelphia—a church poor in wealth, but rich in His blessings because they relied upon Him.

Loved Him.

Trusted Him.

Sought Him.

Cherished, and served Him obediently.

They were privileged and happy in His sight and received His divine blessings. As a church body, through Him and in His service, they saved many lives.

Follow their lead in Matthew 5:3 and release the desire for worldly possessions, and pride of self. Become the poor in spirit, humble servants, those who are not wise in their own eyes, or holy in their own sight. Obey and trust “in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30.

Then receive His divine blessings!

Amen.
